After many weeks of discussion and media scuffles, we can now be sure that there will be Chuck Liddell's third fight (21-8, 16-7 in UFC) with Tito Ortiz (19-12-1, 15-11-1 at UFC). The duel will be organized by the Golden Boy supervisor group (managed by Oscar de la Hoya), which is entering the MMA market.
“I am proud to say that we have signed a contract for the fight against Chuck Liddell of Tito Ortiz. It will be a huge event for fans of this sport around the world. Ortiz and Liddell are some of the best-known fighters in the history of MMA; these are the legends of this sport.”
The first and second confrontation between Tito and Liddell was won by the older American, in both fights Iceman knocked out his rival. Liddell has not been fighting since June 2010. when he was knocked out by Rich Franklin during UFC 115. It was Chuck's third defeat by knockout, he won the last victory of the 48-year-old by defeating Wanderlei Silva in December 2007. A much smaller break from the performances in the cage is Ortiz, who fought his last duel in January last year at Bellator 170 - during this event Tito gave Chael Sonnen a fight that aroused a lot of controversy.
